COREY HAIM UPDATE

COREY HAIM's name has turned up in an investigation into a fraudulent prescription drug ring. California Attorney General JERRY BROWN announced Friday that the late actor's name was found on an illegal prescription for the powerful painkiller OxyContin. Brown said in a statement that the prescription was discovered during a San Diego-based probe focusing on a ring that illegally obtained prescription drug pads using doctors' stolen identities in order to write fraudulent prescriptions. According to the Associated Press, it's unclear whether Haim himself filled the prescription for OxyContin that listed his name.

A Los Angeles County coroner's official has said prescription drugs in Haim's name were found at the North Hollywood apartment where he collapsed.  A cause of death has not been announced, though the actor's mother, JUDY HAIM, told Access Hollywood the coroner's office told her The Lost Boys star suffered pulmonary congestion.  Haim died last Wednesday at the age of 38.

In a subsequent interview with Access Hollywood, Judy Haim said her son's funeral in his native Toronto will be paid for by the city. The funeral has been scheduled for Tuesday. Judy Haim also said the celebrity memorabilia website Startifacts.com has offered to cover additional costs relating to the funeral and burial. The owner of the site was an acquaintance of Haim's and was selling the actor's possessions in order to raise money for the funeral.

LILLY SCOTT SPEAKS OF AMERICAN IDOL DOOM…WHO?

Of the four American Idol contestants who were sent home Thursday night, LILLY SCOTT's elimination was probably the most surprising, since the judges had raved about all her performances.  It also seems that Lilly had started to believe her own hype. At a phone press conference on Friday, Lilly told reporters that she made that comment about "not knowing what America wants to hear" because she was "kind of frustrated" that singers who'd been struggling for weeks made it to the Top 12 and she didn't.

Lilly also said she thinks she was voted out because people either thought she was safe, or because people who would like her music weren't watching...or voting. She explained, "My voting demographic is probably more of the underground scene who probably doesn't even own a TV, or if they do...they're probably doing something more productive than watching TV, let alone American Idol...that's what I was afraid of from day one."  She also said that KARA DIOGUARDI told her that "maybe America didn't know what to do with me," because they saw her as a complete, fully-formed artist, not an inexperienced one that fans would enjoy seeing develop over time.

Lilly actually went so far as to imply that the show is doomed to boredom without her in the Top 12.  She said,  "I thought I could break the mold, but I guess it's another season of the same old stuff."

ALEX LAMBERT, meanwhile, explained that the reason everyone was so emotional after he got voted off is because, according to him, none of the contestants who got the boot on Thursday were the four whom the contestants themselves expected to go. Alex said SIOBHAN MAGNUS was crying, in particular, because they're very close, and she was convinced he was safe.  Alex also admitted that the American Idol stylists tried to get him to cut his mullet, but he says even if he'd continued in the competition, he would've refused.

As for TODERICK HALL, he told reporters that all he wants to do now is to join the cast of Glee -- he practically begged everyone to help him campaign for the job.  He also thinks he would've gone farther on the show if he had listened to people's advice to sing R&B songs, but he refused to do it.

Most booted contestants won't admit to being partial to anyone who remains, but KATELYN EPPERLY didn't get that memo.  She told reporters that she's rooting for CRYSTAL BOWERSOX, saying, "She's been a very true, true friend to me and she is a genuinely good, true person. When she sings, it comes from the heart...she totally deserves it and I'm gonna be pulling for her all the way."

KELLY CLARKSON WANTS 10 KIDS

KELLY CLARKSON isn't even dating anyone, let alone close to being married, but she already knows what size family she wants.  Late last week, Kelly arrived in South Africa for her tour, and while she was there, she visited an orphanage called House of Hope.  She wrote on Twitter, "I love these kids and the house mothers! What amazing people!  I can't wait to hang with the House of Hope kids again. New requirement for future husband -- I want ten kids!"

When one of her Twitter followers suggested that Kelly adopt one of the children at the orphanage, she responded, "Not ready to adopt right now, but I definitely will when the time is right. There are so many kids without a loving home!"

Kelly's tour of South Africa wraps up on Wednesday with a show in Cape Town.  Next month, she'll head to Australia and New Zealand.

MARIAH CAREY IS A NAUGHTY NURSE

MARIAH CAREY's latest video is causing some Baltimore nurses to get their uniforms in a twist.  The Baltimore Sun reports that Truth About Nurses, a Baltimore-based group concerned about demeaning portrayals of the nursing profession, is upset over Mariah's video for "Up Out My Face," which shows her dressed as a "naughty nurse," dressed in a sexy white uniform with plunging cleavage, cap and stockings.  The group has started a letter-writing campaign to ask Mariah to "make amends by withdrawing the video from all distribution, avoiding the stereotype in the future and publicly apologizing to the nursing profession."
